George Shenkle

George Shenkle was assigned to the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division.

Early in the morning of June 6, 1944, Joe jumped from the C-47 named, Turf and Sport Special, during Operation Overlord, the mission to recapture Europe from the Axis powers.

Both George and the Turf and Sport Special survived the war. In July 2015, the two were reunited once more.
